Unfortunately it will still count as top skill if you collect more exp with it as opposed to whatever skill you are trying to carn next. This can lead to the dilemna of hunting being your top skill even though you cannot get anymore blue stars in it. If that is the case the game will not allow you to reincarnate until something else takes its position as top skill. There are some easy ways to deal with this problem though.

    1. Before you do any underworld diving, kill an alt so that you have infamy. You will still be able to collect myst but will not gain any hunting exp. I often bounce back and forth from the underworld to max my infamy so that I can myst farm to my heart’s content without worrying about gaining too much hunting exp.

    2. Let a haunted remain drain your top skill until it is no longer hunting. This goes rather quickly if you are strong enough to stand next to one without taking much damage. I can drain 8 hours worth of hunting exp in a matter of minutes.

    Hope this helps.

Haunted remains lower both skill xp and overall xp. I had the same thought and tested it.

Don’t let the alpaca dream die! Keep the post alive until all alpaca related demands have been met.

I’ve always assumed alpacas were already in the game and that I had failed to find any. I am taken aback to learn they are not currently a feature. Not sure if I even want to continue living in this alpaca free world. How is such a glaring oversight being ignored.

Also, don’t even dare and try to pass off some llamas on us like we’re a bunch of mere peasants.

Did the Dev change it back? Or are you just thanking him for listening?

You’re right. I can’t figure out a consistent way of determining which skill it will lower. It definitely isn’t based solely on what Your top reincarnate skill is.

Haunted remains doesn’t actually drain your top skill in regards to reincarnation. It is your highest level skill counting blues stars as well. Also, I still have your A4 ring I picked up in a bone pile, you ever gonna come pick that up? lol

    The benefits of reincarnation:

-Achieving a much higher base level in the long run as the amount of myst required for ascension eventually becomes impractical.

-When you do finally ascend (at some point even reincarnation players will need to ascend to become truly powerful) you will gain myst and experience at a much higher rate than players without blue stars. Every blue star also represents a 5% increase to both myst and exp acquisition.

-When you achieve 10 blue stars in a skill, you will never again drop below level 100 in that skill because blue stars are permanent.

    The benefits of ascending:

-You will never lose the upgrades you spend your myst on. Uprades are important to a well rounded character and essential if you want to be powerful at pvp.

-You will only have to level up every skill once for the most part. While you will lose some exp when you die, it’s not even close to the amount that a carner loses every time they carn. Carners (those that reincarnate) have a ton of skills with no blue stars that they start over with every time. Some of the most painful are exploration, mining, repairing, chopping, construction and crafting.

Basically, the reincarnation path is for players that have very long term goals. Most players will not stick around long enough to truly reap the benefits of reincarnating. The ascension path allows you access to the big leagues within your first month of play. To date, most servers are ran by ascension players or players that have stopped reincarnating and switched to ascending.

This is a great idea! That is, if you hate the game and want to see it implode immediately.

Myst requirements keep the game honest. They inhibit excessive gains from botting. There must never be means of transferring myst.

Equip yourself with dash and shell. Grab a bow and head north till you find the group of ice elementals. As long as you keep your distance they will let you pick them off for big myst rewards. If you are being pursued and feel that you can’t stand up to one in close combat simply dash away. If they block your dash by simultaneously using frostbite, turn on your shell and keep firing while moving away from the ice elemental. Keep turning to a new direction every six steps or so but don’t stop firing. You should be fine.

Here are the answers to your questions as best I can do, in the order they are asked.

    1. The answer is debatable and depends on several factors:
    – How much time are you going to invest into the game
    – What aspects of rpgs and mmo’s do you particular enjoy
    – What are your long term goals
    2. No one has determined the maximum number of carns yet. There is an upper limit as available exp decreases with every carn, but no one has reached it.
    3. This question may be asking 1 of 2 different things:

If you are asking can you get a fifth blue star with only level 4 skill mastery unlocked:

No, you cannot carn without the necessary skill mastery. The button will appear saying my body
is ready, but when you push it you will receive an additional message saying you must first
unlock the necessary skill mastery to carn.

If you are asking do you need to unlock skill mastery level 5 for the exp you have gained above
and beyond your skill mastery level to count towards your top skill this carn, then the answer
is yes. The exp will still count towards it being your top skill.

    4. This answer is again debatable based on too many factors to get into. I will say that this game is still in active development and the benefits of reincarnation may change with time. This means those blue stars might become much more valuable down the road. Right now, base level is not huge advantage once you are high enough level to equip powerful items. It does not affect your damage or defense. There is a small bump to your hp but it is usually only about 2 points per level. When you reincarnate your upgrades reset everytime and this makes a huge difference especially when it comes to pvp. That means if you really want to be powerful, at some point you will have to ascend.

The blue stars counting as negative xp makes a lot of sense. Just from an ease of programming perspective, it eliminates the need for a complex algorithm. I think you nailed it.
