I think you’re really out of touch with reality Left. Your time lines are all pretty far off. Your understanding of the bans is wrong too. No one got a 1 month ban. Sephi and Sir got 1 week bans for discovering the exploit and then sharing it without reporting it, proof of that was provided in screenshots. Nefer and Oracle got 3 week bans for repeated use of the exploit. The bans were then extended, probably for ban evasion attempts, which is in the rules.

All the kills FL got with the exploits were pre-casual patch, the only people who benefited from the casual patch was FL themselves. FL absolutely does not only kill people for those specific reasons you listed, the shit they pull goes so much deeper than you are clearly aware of. You wouldn’t know since you don’t play, and only hear what they tell you.

Ivana provided specific clear cut proof of bug exploitation and you still they think are innocent because they didn’t know they would get banned? That is F’ing laughable dude, like duh, most criminals wouldn’t commit a crime if they knew they would get in trouble. Considering that you haven’t played in a while, which is obvious by how out of touch you are, it’s annoying that you even expect them to provide you with that crap. I don’t want to see JVH wasting his time trying to defend himself from a smear campaign from some butt-hurt crooks and their white knights. He is a busy man and us existing players want more patches.

edit: holy shit, had to replace my pronoun with a specific name since like 5 people posted before I could finish.

Here’s a fun video of how to fail at defensive design:

I don’t mind telling you exactly how we got where we were. It’s clear cut legitimate game play. First we dug under your wooden wall and came up behind Dyrir to keep him from repairing. Next, we broke your measly 50k health arrow towers, and made a staircase in their place. This is how we got down inside the walls the first time, and this is also what destroyed your floor tile. As any non-amateur base builder knows, stairs destroy floor tiles. After smacking the wall for a bit some FL members started fighting all the low levels who were just hanging around mostly. More fighting ensues, Jabu logs in, some deaths happen. After Jabu went down Valduk had to retreat back into the base, so it was back to destroying the walls. But oh, surprise! the walls had all been repaired and even enhanced with dragon scales, looks like we were back to square one. Or were we?! You see, your amateur defenders neglected to re-tile the floor after they broke the stairs. It was a simple matter of escape roping up and building stairs for my friends to follow. Then all we had to do was watch Valduk have a mental breakdown about how much he hates cheaters(lol) as we chipped down the walls where they couldn’t repair.

Verbatim from Sephi on the forums in another post if you bothered to read it:

The logging-on-off thing I did learn about, almost tragically while helping expand our farm by taking down ruins. My net lagged me out, I d/c’d and had Sir been slower, afk, or lower level he might have died. That “sleeping bug” did not take you to the other side of the wall it just let you hit through it if you had a weapon that could have done so. I suspect this bug happened because it used to be a thing where you could hit through walls but it was OP and changed.

So now shes admitted to discovering the bug, involving Sir in the process. Instead of reporting it, she clearly shared it with the tribe only, because Caesar and Nefer went on to abuse this bug to get kills on a number of people. It’s easily noticeable by any player who is online, because they log in right after making the kill, as they have to be offline to kill them.

It’s a shame that people are so desperate to be in control that they can’t be legitimate beta testers.

Your formulas are definitely off, not that it really matters but I’ll tell you anyway just so we all know. 4 levels of a weapon skill is 1 damage, 5 levels of hunting or assassination is 1 damage. I’m 75% sure they don’t work as decimals, so you can’t get 1 damage by combining 3 hunting and 2 weapon skill.

That aside, I think some combat changes are definitely required. As it stands attack speed is the king by such a large margin, there needs to be a way to balance that a bit. My idea was to give dagger a critical strike chance, give sword a bleed effect, give hammer a stun, give axe armor piercing, and give club the non-lethal blow mechanic that has been talked about.

As for shield, yeah, this is the current meta game, 100% shield block rate. Being completely indestructible trivializes the entire game, pvp and pve. Sure you can break shields in 800 hits for a +0, but you can also just carry extra shields and repair kits. Now that it’s apparent how game breaking it is, I would definitely expect a nerf. Maybe instead of increasing attack speed cooldown, give shield block a cooldown that can be lowered with levels, say 20ms per level.

Dual wielding? Could be a good idea, it would be a big change for dagger if that was made an offhand only weapon. Then we can consider extra attacks, parrying or maybe disarming.

Bridges, sounds cool. Don’t know how it would work. Maybe if we could get another layer above ground zero or something.

Haha, I was being a little sarcastic when I said that, but I do think natural disasters could be a cool thing. We already have earthquakes, but they suck. Immediate need for revamp on those babies! But let’s skip that for more interesting stuff.

Imagine a tsunami that just obliterates 75% of the map, including all the players in its wake. You get like a 30 minute notice that it’s coming and watch people scramble to collect their belongings and all congregate on the other side of the map.

Then, the water subsides and an army of fish men are left behind, prompting the player base to band together to defeat a common enemy! Maybe we could get some special loot.

Maybe that’s too chaotic for you, fine. How about a tornado that just rips through 2×2 cells in an unpredictable pattern, dealing damage per second to everything inside. Easy enough to outrun, might hurt your base a bit, or even take down some walls if they aren’t reinforced.

Still too much? OK, how about a casual blizzard. Spread snow an extra 50 tiles south of the current snow area and make it deep, slowing movement speed by 100 or 200. Increased polar bear spawn!

Thunderstorms, strike random tiles for 100 damage inside its area while the storm persists. Lightning rods can protect a base from damage.

There’s a lot of possibilities with this stuff, that’s just what I came up with on the spot. Think of it as a way to hasten the removal of ruins or old players, while adding a little spice to the game. More PvE stuff, you know.

I’ve been a big advocate for increased inventory space since the start. My suggestion is just having equipped items go somewhere else, not in the bag. Here’s the thing, I get that you think having less space makes it tougher or forces you to bring extra people or something, right? Well the reality is that people are just ignoring ore veins and speed running to altars to dupe one single type of gem. It’s the path of least resistance. Less inventory space doesn’t make you pick and choose valuables, it makes you disregard ore veins. Is that the end game that is intended?

You should’ve applied to the Merry Men, I could have supplied you with a warm bed and camaraderie! Maybe we can discuss it over dinner.

I think its pretty absurd to say FL shares no guilt in these actions. I’ve stated my opinion on it before, but I’ll do it once more for good measure. If you raise, protect, assist and shelter a murderer who goes out and murders, then your hands are stained in the same blood. Might as well embrace it instead of playing pretend.

Having a five minute at will invulnerability is pretty crazy. Aside from what Ivana said, you could just take a fiver to go afk on floor 30 by disconnecting yourself. Or if you see one of your alternate characters in danger you could disconnect him while you go in and fight with your main, allowing you to more safely loot extra items in the dungeon. Maybe one of your weak friends is in danger, they can just log out and have you clear some monsters for them to safely get away. You could repeatedly disconnect yourself to extend the timer. Not even mentioning all of the glaring pvp flaws.

The list goes on if you want to sit and think about it. I’m sure creative people could come up with some exploits that I can’t think of on the spot. Maybe you can think of counter measures for all of these points, but why hand hold so much that you need to create 10 extra counter measures just to implement one thing that will have to be monitored so much for flaws. It’s not a good way to spend the limited manpower JVH has.

Anyhow, why is everyone so certain a five minute invulnerability would have saved Pyco to begin with? He should’ve been strong enough to fight back for a while considering his HP pool, dagger and hunting skill. The current system is fine in my opinion and doesn’t merit a long winded forum post, just like a lot of the other suggestions y’all are making. I’d rather see my one working developer expanding the game and improving server stability than catering to the woes of a small handful of people who are mildly disgruntled.

Thumbs down, too many exploits. No MMO survival game would do this.
