why cant tables hold items? (suggestion)

if tables could hold items they could be used as a great decoration that not only takes place, but could also be used as a more cheaper but less safer version of the counter because it nearly doesnt have hp (it can be killed/destroyed in 3-5 hits). some uses to the “new” table could be:
1) a dining table
2) a food counter (like those they got in macdonalds)
3)paperwork holder
those are realy the reasons ill use it but there are probably more uses.

The anvil already has the functionality I’d want with a table. I like this suggestion and was wondering why it wasn’t so already. Would make decorating much easier.
