Hiya. 🙂
I’ve been collecting some data since reaching 100+ in knitting and crafting.
These numbers are really discouraging for crafting. In 1000 crafts I only saw one (5), and barely any (3-4)s either for that matter. The idea of fishing for crafts looks essentially dead right now, especially contrasted with knitting. I honestly think runes from crafting could use a substantial buff, especially at this high of a level.

This could really be smoothed out as well, +3s didn’t show up until level 100 and then at 101 all you get are +3s. +2s didn’t become regular until the mid-90s either.
Something more like:
1-40: +1s become more common.
40: +1s are common enough to fish for (+50%).
41-70: +2s become more common.
70: +2s are common enough to fish for (+50%).
71-90: +3s become more common.
90: +3s are common enough to fish for (+50%).
91-100: +3s slowly edge out everything else to 100%.Just something to get a good progression curve going as you’re leveling up, and that matches the items you’re getting approximately to your level/the amount of time you’ve sunk into it. You start at a lower level aiming for +1s, then upgrade to +2s, then +3s.
And then at 90+ you start fishing for really OP rune combos on +3s.
July 15, 2017 at 11:59 am #2707Did a new crafting test at level 125. Some very slight shifts were noted.
July 16, 2017 at 11:57 am #2709Follow-up with knitting as well.
Seems we’ve got some RNG on (5)s since it’s a smaller sample.
July 17, 2017 at 3:19 pm #2723I don’t imagine you’ll be very happy to learn that your ultra-knitting gear is less useful with the current update.
July 17, 2017 at 7:10 pm #2724New quick stats after the latest tuning pass.
With this patch all skills are hard capped to 100 even with enchants, meaning +2s are back. I don’t expect to gather more data than this as it’s getting laborious, so given the smaller sample size consider these to be ballpark numbers rather than hard stats.
July 17, 2017 at 8:35 pm #2725To apply these (<emphasis>rough</emphasis>) numbers a bit,
The chance of knitting a +3 with one specific (5) rune is:
1/(11.5% × 26.0% × 37.0%) = 1 in ~90.
(Was previously 1 in ~30 at level 110).The chance of knitting a +2 or +3 with one specific (5) rune is:
1/(11.5% × 26.0%) = 1 in ~33.The chance of crafting a +3 with one specific (5) rune is:
1/(1.5% × 13.2% × 8.0%) = 1 in ~6300.
(Was previously 1 in ~3970 at level 125).The chance of crafting a +2 or +3 with one specific (5) rune is:
1/(1.5% × 13.2%) = 1 in ~505.So the rune chance for crafting is way up, but it’s still far behind knitting and not enough to make me start fishing for anything. And having +2s back on the table (which in my experience there has been no demand for) resulted in a nerf for both skills.
Beta be beta. 🙂
I’ll be interested to see what another tuning patch brings.
