    The trait system is a system I think is really fun, until you unlock all the traits and stop noticing the bonuses. That’s why I think we need to beef it up!

    Trait Leveling

    After unlocking all traits and reaching certain dust goal, a random trait levels up, and gains an extra bonus. Just like how we can unlock trait slots after reaching dust goals, we get that many traits leveled up. Once all traits have reached their next level, then you can begin leveling up the traits again! Dying would pick a different trait to level up, much like the traits cycle when you die until you have all the slots unlocked.

    New caps for bonuses would have to be set of course. Maybe even an entire rework of the bonuses where each trait gives less bonuses than what we get now.

    I have a couple different ideas for leveling with traits that we could explore.

    1) Set the trait level cap low: Something like 3 levels total for each trait. Big bonuses for each level, but also you will have to gain massive amounts of dust to level each trait.

    Trait levels would be +1, +2, +3. Dust goals can continue on the same scale path.

    Example bonuses:

    Base Trait

    Trait Effect
    Alert: 10% bonus dodge chance.
    Deadly: 2% bonus critical strike chance.
    Fast: 30 bonus movement speed.
    Healthy: Hunger bar drains at -33% speed.
    Organized: 500 bonus weight capacity.
    Precise: 7% bonus to hit chance.
    Quick: 60ms faster attacks and actions.
    Reverent: 10% bonus myst gain.
    Strong: 1 bonus attack.
    Sturdy: 15 bonus max health.
    Tough: 1 bonus defense.
    Wise: 10% bonus experience gain.

    Trait Effect
    Alert: 15% bonus dodge chance.
    Deadly: 4% bonus critical strike chance.
    Fast: 60 bonus movement speed.
    Healthy: Hunger bar drains -50% speed.
    Organized: 1000 bonus weight capacity.
    Precise: 10% bonus to hit chance.
    Quick: 100ms faster attacks and actions.
    Reverent: 15% bonus myst gain.
    Strong: 3 bonus attack.
    Sturdy: 30 bonus max health.
    Tough: 3 bonus defense.
    Wise: 15% bonus experience gain.

    Trait +2

    Trait Effect
    Alert: 20% bonus dodge chance.
    Deadly: 7% bonus critical strike chance.
    Fast: 75 bonus movement speed.
    Healthy: Hunger bar drains at -66% speed.
    Organized: 1500 bonus weight capacity.
    Precise: 15% bonus to hit chance.
    Quick: 150ms faster attacks and actions.
    Reverent: 20% bonus myst gain.
    Strong: 5 bonus attack.
    Sturdy: 60 bonus max health.
    Tough: 5 bonus defense.
    Wise: 20% bonus experience gain.

    Trait Effect
    Alert: 25% bonus dodge chance.
    Deadly: 10% bonus critical strike chance.
    Fast: 100 bonus movement speed.
    Healthy: Hunger bar drains at -75% speed.
    Organized: 2000 bonus weight capacity.
    Precise: 20% bonus to hit chance.
    Quick: 200ms faster attacks and actions.
    Reverent: 25% bonus myst gain.
    Strong: 7 bonus attack.
    Sturdy: 100 bonus max health.
    Tough: 7 bonus defense.
    Wise: 25% bonus experience gain.

    2) Traits level the same as reincarnation, except you don’t have to reincarnate your character to level the traits, you “prestige” the traits. Gaining prestige could start at something like 100,000 dust and takes you back to just one trait. Traits are earned at the same rate as usual. In this scenario, we would keep the same bonuses we get now, but once you prestige a trait, you get a much smaller bonus until you reach the bonus cap.

    We could set trait level cap to 60, and bonuses would be 1/60 of the level cap.

    Wise: 25% bonus experience gain.

    You wouldn’t lose your total dust, and it could bank like exp with skill mastery. So, those who already have a ton of dust would have their traits able to level up to whatever their max may be. Just have to click that “prestige” button each time to level your traits.

    This is the current rate of trait slots and dust requirements. With this proposed system, prestige 1 would be unlocked at 100,000 dust and would take you back to 1 trait, and trait slots are earned at the same rate.

    No single player right now will be at cap. The highest we have right now is on USE with Latte, who has 640,839 which would put him at a Trait Prestige 6 with 10 traits unlocked and would have 1/10 of the bonus cap added to his unlocked traits.

    I’m personally a fan of the Trait Prestige system over the first one I suggested. I feel like it could make being an old player a little more interesting.

    I love the concept of the suggestion… Some of the numbers may need balancing …. I know one of the hardest thing devs go through is bridging the gap between casual players and hardcore players ….

    +1 to this idea as well. Hopefully the powers that be can stop working on cat art and focus on something like this instead

    The more I think about it, the more the 60 level trait prestige system sounds awesome. We need this.
