Reincarnation, Farming changes, Skill increases

newfarmingIt’s finally here after many delays. I decided to release this separate from the upgrade patch which will bring its own changes. Now with the reincarnation mechanic in place, at long last I’ve removed the level based experience reduction for skills. Now you will always get the same experience for an action regardless of your level.

Not only that but I’ve increased the experience for a number of skills to make it easier to get a high level in them:

Large increase: repair, assassin, healing, hammer, questing, unarmed, pickaxe, tilling
Medium increase: knitting, construction, exploration, foraging, unarmored, chopping, clubbing, axe
Small increase: smithing, fishing, smelting, sword, archery

So let’s test out reincarnation. The only requirement currently is level 80. If you click the Reincarnate button on your character dialog it will show you what your top skill is and how many levels you would increase your level cap. This can change based on your skill diversity (yellow star count). So if you currently have a well balanced skill set then you already have a head start on future leaderboards. Your top skill will get a special blue star which is a permanent 10 skill levels that don’t count towards your overall level. You can get a maximum of 4 blue stars in one category. There is still no limit on the level ceiling or skill levels. You can keep leveling skills even when you hit your current level cap so you can still be quite dangerous without ever using reincarnation if you wish.

There is a new farming system to test as well. We leave any sense of realism behind as now crops only take a couple minutes or so to finish growing. They have a chance to fail based on your farming skill and whether they are watered. This will turn them into a withered plant which you can still harvest for 1 seed. This way you will always get at least 1 seed back, with a chance for more based on your farming skill.

Also in this patch, a new ‘organized’ trait which gives 1k to weight capacity. Fixed a bug with the loading bar showing in black areas. Thanks to TheFurious for posting the suggestion and bug report.

You can now knock back tribe members to get them out of your way without doing damage. Chaos NPCs have an appetite for level 80 players and above. The Legends board has been reset. Lastly, we have another round of sprite updates.

There are a lot more big changes coming, and some new items. I hope this will keep you busy until then. Thanks for your support!
