Cooking Update

cooking_updateFinally the new cooking system is here and ready for testing along with some new crops. With some hematite and silver you can craft a cooking pot which can be placed on a fire. Then you can drop in spices or other raw ingredients to create unique dishes. You can extend the meal’s nutrition, expiration date, buff potency and duration depending on the ingredients, cooking time, and skill. So with the right technique you could create a special dish that completely fills your hunger bar, gives you 2.5x experience, +5 to all skills, and +3 regen/second for over an hour! The dish itself can last for a month before going bad. More patch details below:

  • Added new crops Onion and Lettuce.
  • Added new spice Coriander which boosts health regen per second.
  • Added new sound for eating, and fixed the knitting sound.
  • Added meal categories Soup, Salad, Stew, Dish, and Tea.
  • The stats command will now show buff power and duration.
  • Fixed gates getting stuck open on server restart.

More cooking information

Both cooking skill and the time spent cooking a meal can increase nutrition, expiration, and buff potency. Around 20 seconds is the minimum and 10 minutes is optimum. 20 minutes or more may burn your dish (half effectiveness).

Buff duration is based off spice quantity, but the potency is based off of cooking time, skill, and diversity. Diversity is how many different types of ingredients you incorporated into your dish.

Meals of the same type will stack and average their nutrition/expiration together. Meals with buff effects do not stack.
