First: get 10 wood by beating on a tree with your fist by standing in front of it and hitting the action button
Second: get 20 stone by beating on a rock with your fist by standing in front of it and hitting the action button
Third: open your crafting menu – it looks like a repair kit – find the Stone Axe option and click the craft button
Fourth: wield the axe
Fifth: find more trees and beat on them with the axe.
Repeat step 5 until you have enough wood to make walls. If you find pinecones, you can use those to make more trees, or sell them for some wood.
