Items are red in inventory

When I was dagger training I saw that when the dagger was worn down and red if I swapped it with a different item in my inventory and went back to the quick inventory the item switched with the dagger the item switched would have the worn down effect or the red border around it I find it really annoying while I am training

Struggling with the lack of puctuation there.

Do you have something that needs repair, swap it for a new one, however the new one also has the red square around it? Almost like the new item gained the status from what was in the slot before?

ive seen this with mats before, my repair kit goes red and breaks, I pick something up like, seeds, and that item is now red-tinged too. It’s been reported before, it generally goes away though
