Problem with building a bed

I have problem with building a bed. It always shows that there was some on the way and I need 2 free space. But I had built a 3*2 base. How come I still don’t have enough space for a bed? Does is has to do with the floor tile? I should build it on the floor or on the grass? Should it be vertical or horizontal?

Beds must be vertical and everything in your house should have floor tiles under it. Its tricky but you’ll find the right spot eventually
