Critical Strike, Spice Bushes, Build Menu Changes

Another update on the way to the upgrade and mapping patches. Here are the changes:

  • Critical strike added for human players. Starts at 1% chance base to get 2.5 times damage. This can be increased with upgrades and special item properties in the near future. Does not work on structures.
  • Beware: Chaos NPCs now know how to dig if deep water is in their way, no shovel necessary. Also once they reach level 40 they can conjure up a stone hammer if they haven’t found a weapon yet.
  • Build dialog has been changed so it will show many items that you can’t craft yet. They are darkened but you can read their info text. Knitted items are now included in the default build menu. The easiest items to build are sorted to the top.
  • Holly bushes now have a chance to spawn as Spice bushes. These special bushes can give spices based on your foraging skill. This way you can cook more dishes for experience and regen boosts.
  • Weld, woad, and madder bushes now spawn as a single dye bush which can be grown with dye seeds. The dye given is random.
  • Added spices to a few NPC drops.
  • Damage numbers will show when you attack structures.
  • Beds now properly drop a partial resource refund if you destroy the bottom section.
  • You can now attack players who are standing in a gate.
  • Dogs no longer have a fascination with wandering southeast.
  • Buckets of dye show the correct color now.
  • Added a high speed limiter (this is mostly to limit bullet speed Chaos NPCs).
  • Added a damage limiter for human defenders: It will always take at least 4 hits to kill a human player (mostly for Chaos again, but also to help low level players).
  • A few more sprite updates.
  • Huge server optimizations to allow for several more players and multiple servers in the future.
