Map Expansion Patch

mapNow the map is more than twice as big and includes a lake which is bigger than the original map size. The desert and snow areas are twice as tall and will slowly change in the existing map. This is also the first of possibly several balance patches as the experience gains are scaled around the new progression system. Oh and to be 100% transparent for you guys – I can now go invisible on the server! Anyways, here is what’s new:

  • New ‘grassy rock’ which gives basic stone materials and can be found in the grass.
  • Hunting experience has been rescaled with a new formula.
  • Weapon experience gain increased.
  • Unarmed and unarmored experience gain increased.
  • Shield block experience gain increased.
  • Daggers now have a damage penalty versus structures and non-light armors.
  • Assassin experience increased with exponential gains on killing high level players.
  • Minimum experience adjusted, and there is no penalty for novice skill gains (see below)
  • Pinecone drop rate slightly adjusted to encourage more wild trees.
  • Carrot sprite has spontaneously become more beautiful.
  • Removing equipment slots with smithing is now half the break chance.
  • All object and NPC populations have been increased, including chicken breeding cap.
  • When players die their dropped loot will last an hour before disappearing instead of the usual 10 minutes.

It’s been encouraging for me and the testing team to see the shift in play styles so far (a number of us have our own world that mirrors your own). Not to mention the projections now show a much lower chance of a certain event that is prophesied, but I still choose not to share yet because it is triggered by you not by me! What I can share are some numbers to help you determine your character’s path in the generations to come.

Skill levels in Mystera Legacy are balanced between novice (10), skilled(20), expert(30), and master(40) – of course additional levels of mastery can be attained beyond that at a cost. A player achieves Veteran status at character level 50 and the top players become Ancients at level 100. There are still no skill level or character level caps, you will always get a minimum amount of experience.

Depending on the choices you make you can fit a lot of skills into a future level 100 character for example: 9 Master level skills, 24 Expert, 92 Skilled, unlimited Novice, and any mix in between. I say unlimited because getting to novice level has no cost regardless of level.
