Mystera Times Press Release: New Shop and Market Opens

A NEW ERA FOR THE MYSTERAN ECONOMY?

By Nefer Akhen
During the twilight hours of Sunday, the Frost Legion market was dubbed Frostco. The building had appeared seamlessly overnight some days prior. Mysterans wondered about the building. Some were afraid that this was an attempt by the Frost Legion Tribe to take over the economy, others were excited to see what new things would be offered.

I was able to attend the opening alongside fellow tribe members: King Cold, the tribe’s leader, Sir Blacula, and Jopah Pino.

Jopah commented on the necessity of Frostco, “we wanted to have a nice shop for helping new players have access to some basic things they’ll need”.

The recent murder spree that culminated in the death of its perpetrators, Lukas and _K_, was part of the motivation. The economy had suffered with some people leaving our community. Others took advantage and amassed whatever wealth they could and hoarded it, or sold it at wildly varying prices.

At Frostco, which is run only by Frost Legion members, they will be offering starter items for newer people. There are also some exchanges available for common building materials.

Jopah hopes for a wider variety of available items later in time, musing “if the marketplace grows, who knows how many interesting things people will be able to find in the shops?!”

Part of the issue was to rebuild the community as well, so Jopah and other Frost Legion members started to coordinate with other prominent community members, like Ivana Kutstuf, Qurok Fir, and Robin Hood.
In Jopah’s words, “the hope is that the new Community Market will provide a nice area for both merchants and shoppers to have a safe and easy-to-find place to trade. That could enable more trade, and more competitive pricing if all goes to plan”.

Frost Legion has maintained other community projects before, for example, the two lane main road.
The main road has been recently re-paved and expanded to the East to facilitate travel to the marketplace.

The marketplace is not so different from other community projects in its mission statement: “we’ve encouraged everyone who is interested in opening a market stall to come by and set up a shop (hopefully respecting the layout that has been put in place for a clean and organized marketplace)”.

As you can see, there are parallel roads north of the main road. The idea is to build between said roads, allowing free access to any stall.

Julius Caeser was quick to affirm that shoplifting (or any other errant behavior in the area)
“will be prosecuted to the furthest extent possible”.

When asked to expand he stated that the penalty “may include up to eating their still living soul”.

Due to the rage in his eyes, this reporter slowly backed off.

In an upcoming edition: Follow up on participants in the community market, learn about the secrets of the underworld, and make sure to keep your homes safe! Also, is there a new burglar and killer loose?
