Bloody Tuesday: Is war Inevitable?

by Nefer Akhen

On Tuesday, red covered the broadcast channel as people were no longer safe in their homes while sleeping.

Some claimed that the rapid decay of walls and the lack of upkeep of said walls was the main cause.

“That’s just victim blaming. If a store has a broken door, do you just go in and steal something? Do you follow up by murdering the unsuspecting shopkeeper?”, a local pondered. Of course, in terms of karmic ramifications, somebody who would do this is persecuted and would probably spend a long time in jail.

“I remember waking up and a bunch of people dying”, Ivana Kutstuf recalls. Although she had been warned about the events that were unfolding, she needed to do some maintenance in her shop. “They surrounded me and the K guy started attacking me and took half my life. But then Lukas said stop and the K guy dropped some aloe and said just kidding. Then they left”

But not everyone was as lucky as Ivana. Some of the interviewees lamented the loss of a loved member of the community: Jello Dolphin. “Nicest [person] you’d ever meet. Jello was a true pacifist, always helped the community”, a local reminisced.

There was no consensus on the reasons behind the attack. Younger and weak individuals were targeted, as well as those who were left defenseless in their sleep. Many of them had not had the chance to take care of the wall decay became easy prey.

Most of those interviewed categorized the attack as an attempt to show force, as the two suspects, Lukas Szalony and _K_ Masakra, had gained many levels of experience recently.

Ivana seemed disappointed: “they did seem friendly for a while at least, so it feels like it came out of nowhere”.

Even though many, like Ivana, wish that the world would remain peaceful and helpful, others will not be content until there is retribution. Rumata ChosenOne called for unity within the world against those who threaten our livelihood. “[Do not] sit in silence when they [attack] your neighbor. The next [one] could be you”.

The attack made by Lukas and _K_ was met by anger by some groups, like those of Russian descent, who attempted to raid and exact revenge on both individuals. Their attempt, unfortunately, failed. Lukas and K had built better defenses than expected and seemed to have been prepared for this attack.

Although Lukas and _K_ were the focus of anger, members from the Ice Cream Tribe have been seen committing similar crimes. They have kept much of their assaults to looting decayed and abandoned structures, and they have shown some mercy to players who are awake or who are known to be active members of the community.

A CRISIS AVERTED?

Early Thursday morning, _K_ Masakra died in the 10th level of the Underworld. They were level 63 and skilled at smithing. They met their demised at the bony hands of a Skeleton. Shortly after, Lukas Szalony, level 81 and skilled at exploration, was murdered by Oracle Delphi of the Frost Legion Tribe.

There is speculation that Oracle took advantage of _K_’s death, as he knew that Lukas would be on his own.

Does this mean that the bloody days are behind us? Will others attempt to rise in the void left by Lukas and _K_?

Will Lukas and _K_’s heirs work their way back into their predecessor’s position and exact revenge?
